The foundation was founded in 1984 in Quito and is focused on the protection of animals and the improving of the relationship between the Ecuadorian population and the animals. The aims are to remove the picture of animals as objects, to rescue them from suffer, abuse and hunger and to convey them to families for adoption. Besides affordable medicine assistance and sterilization to control the population growth, education, communication and sensitization for the protection and treatment of animals are very important issues and form the daily working process of the Foundation. The Foundation works under international standards and follows the recommendation of ICAM (International Companion Animal Management).
The tasks of the volunteers are to assist with the daily duties of the foundation and to take care of the animals. You will be able to shadow local professionals and will gain hands-on experiences and a great insight of animal caring in Ecuador. Your main tasks are going to be in the scope of following topics: Cleaning of the clinic area; Cleaning of the adoption and emergency area; Preparing and handing over the animals for operations; Assist the doctors in therapies and operations; Manage and oversee adoption processes; Administration work in the office.
You should be used to the contact to animals. Basic knowledge of Spanish would be advantageous but not required. We recommend combining the project with a language course.
