Could there be better advice than straight from the horse’s mouth? At Ailola Quito we believe you should take it from our foals, our former students. Read what they had to say with this collection of student reviews about our Spanish school in Ecuador!
Yesterday I came back to Munich and was very sad, that I had to leave Quito. I enjoyed everything! Really liked my stay at the host family, the host mother was very kind and cooked every day for us. She even tought us some Ecuadorian dishes! With my Spanish classes at school I’m happy too. The teachers helped me concerning all kind of questions – from travel tips to hotel booking. My teacher was super kind and extremely proficient. I’m surprised how fast my Spanish increased. At the moment I’m thinking about my next journey to South America, to improve my Spanish even more and to make a DELE-certificate. I had every day Salsa classes, because I did not had much time. It was intense but good. My dancing teacher was very strict with me and showed me very often how to do it better. But in the end I was very proud of what I achieved :) I will try the new steps, figures and combinations next Saturday with my Salsa-Friends from Munich.

Thanks to all the teachers and staff at Ailola Quito. Before arriving, I knew very little Spanish. The teachers are very good and extremely patient. In addition to learning grammar, which is important in any language, they also encourage conversation. The school also offers weekly events, tours and excursions. The accommodations are also very good. My host family is absolutely incredible – I have ample opportunities to practice speaking as well as learn about some of the customs and traditions of life here and enjoy typical Ecuadorian cuisine. It has been an incredible 2 month adventure and I highly recommend this school for anyone seeking to learn/improve Spanish.

I had a great time at the school and learnt a lot – more than I expected. I will recommend the school to all people that ask me about opportunities to learn Spanish in South America.
Ailola Quito also helps students to organize some trips to different places as the Galapagos Islands for less prices than you can pay directly to tourist agencies in Quito or abroad. The agreement from Ailola Quito and boat trips is that never one student will pay more than the less price one passenger will have in the same boat trip.

I really enjoyed my jungle adventure with a teacher from Ailola Quito. We hiked every day with a group and guide through the jungle, where we spotted loads of animals, insects and exotic plants. And during the breaks between trips I had Spanish lessons. My time in the jungle was fantastic. I really enjoyed it!

Dear Eugenio,
I just wanted to tell you again that I enjoyed my stay in the Amazon so much! I didn’t expect to be able to travel and to see so many different places in such a short time. The trip through the Amazon Jungle was just great, I’ve seen Coca, Tena and Misuhalli, stayed in this beautiful lodge close to the Naporiver, and visited the Shuar close to Puyo. They were the ones who impressed me the most, their way of life and their rainforest saving program was so interesting to see. For me it was also very cool to do these trips through the rainforest and to see all these animals I’ve never seen before. I really enjoyed my stay!

Every day of our seven day "Learn Spanish in Ecuador Travelling Class" was filled with new experiences that were beyond my expectations. Travelling through central Ecuador with our excellent guide and Spanish "profesora", Tania, was both educational and great fun.
We started the round trip by going south from Quito to Baños, the little city with Bavarian influences, in the volcanic mountains that dominate all of central Ecuador. Here we spent time visiting the sites in and outside of Baños. There are amazing vistas and waterfalls to see and things to do. One of our group even took part in bungee jumping from a bridge!
From there we went to the jungle, or selva, for four days. The people there are so warm and helpful. They made us feel at home and safe while learning about life in the jungle. Our Misahualli guide took us down the Rio Napo in his barque, or big canoe. He brought with us inflated tire tubes so we could float down the river. I could not have imagined I would be walking through the Amazonian Jungle, learning about army ants, ants that taste like limes, eating cocoa from a tree in one moment, then floating down the rapids of a great tributary of the mighty Amazon in the next.
Along with other fabulous and interesting things to do and eat came a high quality of Spanish lessons. Our profesora is an expert in teaching Spanish and has an amazing capacity to teach language in great detail. We all stuck to speaking Spanish the whole time and made many terrible, funny, but memorable grammar errors while speaking.
For the two weeks that I spent with the school, including the one week Travelling Class, I would have to say that my Spanish has improved 10-fold. Thanks for the great time Ailola Quito! I had a great time and hope to be back soon!

My experience with Traveling Classes was wonderful, a week full of adventure! In Baños we visited 4 different waterfalls and I gathered my courage to try bungee jumping. In Misahualli we sampled some of the jungles delights, such as cacao and ants that tasted like lemons. My favorite part was tubing down the Rio Napo! In the conservation zoo we got to see many animals native to the area, from monkeys and toucans to capybaras. We also explored a cave that was formed by lava and used as a hiding spot for the Indigenous Chief Jumandy to hide from the Spanards. Our final stop was the thermal pools of Papallacta, which was a perfect, relaxing way to end the week.
Our teacher Tania was really great and knowledgeable to travel with! It was fun to have classes on the deck of our cabin in Misahualli. Outside of the formal classes we had a lot of time to have normal conversations about the areas we were traveling in and about culture and important topics regarding Ecuador.
I will never forget my experience with Traveling Classes and highly recommend this adventure to people who want to travel and study Spanish!
¡Gracias!

My time in Ecuador was simply amazing. Starting with spanish course in Quito I got to learn so much about cultural differences and life in Ecuador. After Quito I spent 4 weeks in the jungle with shuar indigenous people community, where I learn a lot about the importance of the rain forest and the need of protection and conservation. It was such a great experience that gave me a better understanding about the worlds around.
¡Gracias!
